A trial in a possible future. Escape, frontier-defense and guilt as vertexes in the search of truth about the borders of Europe – this is the frame story of the transdisciplinary performance "Enter at own Risk".
50 young artists from France, Italy, the UK, Turkey, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Greece and Germany have been working together since June 2014, online and during a creative residency, to give artistic answers on the questions: What does an "open Europe", what does "Fortress Europe" mean to us? Within the exchange project "The ROOTS & ROUTES Experience 2014", lead by artistic director Massimo Tuveri, the performance "Enter at own Risk" will be created.
"Enter at own Risk" deals with the highly topical issue of Fortress Europe, recently revitalized through the European Elections and the World Refugee Day on June 20th. The young artists will approach this issue in a multidimensional way by means of dance, music, theatre and multimedia. A diversity of perspectives will not only arise from the interlacing of different artistic languages; the ensembles' composition itself will bring in perspectives from Europe's various orientations and borders, to be complemented by the points of view of young people from Turkey. By jointly creating the performance's plot, the artists will negotiate a piece of a common way.
On July 21st and 22nd, the transdisicplinary performance will be presented live on stage at Arkadaş Theater – Bühne der Kulturen in Köln-Ehrenfeld at 20:00 CET.
The ROOTS & ROUTES Experience is funded by the EU programme YOUTH IN ACTION and by the City of Cologne.
