Emerging UK talents capture the spirit of youths

2009-11-19

On December 5th 2009 twenty young talents between the ages of 18-25 will be showcasing their talents at the ITV Centre in Central London as part of the Pan European Roots & Route’s Academy initiative.

Talents were chosen through auditions held in London and Coventry and attended by over eighty young people. The selected musicians, dancers, media talents and young actors at the start of their creative journey will perform in front of an invited audience of 200 plus. This showcasing event is being sponsored by ABi Associates and its partners, Coventry based AV Frontline, MTV Award winner Tan Mathews, London based companies, Sai Photography and London Elite Events.

Saira Awan (owner of SAI Photography) one of the judges and a Senior talent on the R&R programme commented “The level of talents we had at the auditions made it very difficult for us to choose but we believe we have selected the right individuals to represent the UK on a European level”.

Industry professionals, including actors, musicians and record label A & R's, will be in attendance.

ABi Associates, the UK Partner for Roots & Routes Academy has been supporting young talents during the past five years and is currently delivering activities for young talents who are keen to develop their technical, creative, entrepreneurial and teaching skills through one to ones with experts, group participations, showcasing opportunities and European residencies as well as master classes by professionals. The most recent ones have been held by Leela James and George Clinton.

Tan Matthews, one of R&R Academy’s Senior Talent and an MTV award winner says “we are creating a platform for young people to showcase their tremendous potential and at the same time develop them artistically, individually and entrepreneurially.”

The selected talents have signed up to the Academy’s Talent Development Programme, a 168 hours of practical and sector specific support in personal, artistic and enterprise development.

Vijay Amin, ABi’s Managing Director is proud of this programme which has been developed in co-operation with the European Partners. He comments “we will teach the talents the ins and outs of selling, developing portfolios and making money out of their talent. We will show them opportunities available to them both within and outside their artistic sectors.”
