Looking back
The next Kif Kif Awards take place on the 13th of November in the Arenbergschouwburg in Antwerp. Kif Kif is already 5 years active in intercultural artcontest, we want to celebrate it with a specila edition of the Awards. Some participants and winners have far kicked it in the, Flemish cultural landscape. We want give the chance to a broad public to discover the parcours of those young people.
To consolidate: slam poetry
Slam poetry have arisen in the 1980s in Chicago as a response to the certified poetry-evening. Because slam is not well known in Flanders, we have organised the first slam lessons in 2009, within the framework of the Kif Kif Awards.. We looked for the crème de la crème of the Dutch slam scene. Blaxtar (winner of the ‘Grote Prijs van Nederland), Typhoon (winner of the ‘Grote Prijs van Nederland Gijs Ter Haar, Jose Klaase on 8 weeks time hey upgraded the level of the young talents.
This year new slam lessons take place n Antwerp, under accompaniment of mainly Dutch artists. On 13 November 3 finalists fight for a victory in the category slam.
To innovate: digital storytelling & Reality in disguise
Digital Storytelling
Digital Storytelling is a recent term, risen from a movement, which uses new digital appliances to help ordinary people to tell stories in a dragging and emotional manner. These tales are usually rather short (less than 8 minutes) and can be used interactively. In ours tour trough schools we collect multiple stories of young students. These tales tell the something concerning themselves, family and their surroundings.
Reality in Disguise
On the 13th of November 12 young people from all over Europe will present at the Kif Kif Awards the multidisciplinary performance Reality in Disguise: one of the 7 original productions developed by 40 young musicians, dancers and media makers in creative residencies throughout Europe within the frame of the biennial project “ARTnGO – New Routes to Intercultural Creativity”, promoted by Kif Kif together with organisations from other 9 European countries under the coordination of the prestigious Sziget Festival, and with the support of the Culture Programme of the European Union.
